Rick's Picks Exhibit to Say Goodbye to "Sunny"

ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- Rick’s Picks: A Lifelong Affair With Guitars & Music, has announced that Sunny, on loan from Todd Rundgren, will soon be returned to Mr. Rundgren. The guitar will accompany Rundgren on the next leg of Ringo Starr's All Starr Tour, but exhibit visitors have one week to visit Rick's Picks and view this amazing musical artifact before it ships to L.A., January 17.

Sunny is a carefully crafted, nearly exact replica of the famous 1964 Gibson The Fool SG Standard. Rundgren, (who produced Cheap Trick's Next Position Please ), owned The Fool SG after Clapton, Paul Kosoff, George Harrison and Jackie Lomax. When the original came into Todd's possession, it was in terrible condition. He restored the neck and the paint, and named it Sunny after the famous Cream song, "Sunshine of Your Love." The name The Fool comes from the Dutch design duo (Simon Posthuma and
Marijke Koger) who created and executed the paint design.

Todd sold The Fool at auction. Later, while touring in Japan, he was presented with this beautiful replica of the original which he also calls Sunny. Todd says the paint colors on this replica are more robust than the original, and the sound louder and more dynamic thanks to pickup alterations.

While Sunny may only be around for another week, the exhibit will be open through April 10th, 2013 at The Burpee Museum of Natural History, 737 North Main Street Rockford, IL 61103.
